Expertise built from the inside
— not theory.

Themio is led by professionals who practice — or have practiced — at the heart of the systems they decided to automate: international financial institutions, European regulatory bodies, fast-growing SaaS publishers. Expertise built by doing, not observing.

Genesis

Why we created Themio

The same gap kept appearing everywhere: sophisticated European regulations — GDPR, AI Act , NIS2 — and no accessible tooling for the companies that need it most. Large organizations have internal legal teams and budgets for consulting firms. SMEs have the same obligations but none of these resources.

Themio was born out of this frustration. Not from a market analysis — but from direct, repeated experience of seeing well-intentioned organizations not knowing where to start.

Our belief: regulatory compliance should not be an advantage reserved for large organizations. It should be accessible to any European SME — with the same standards of rigor, at a reasonable cost.

Kévin Lefèvre
Kévin Lefèvre
Consultant & AI Expert

Data Scientist specializing in multimodal document intelligence, Kévin works at Themio as a consultant and AI expert. He also works at StarClay (Puteaux), where he designs systems combining LLMs and large-scale document processing. An EPITA graduate in computer engineering, AWS and Deep Learning certified.

At Themio, he ensures that the AI does not guess — it cites. Every recommendation produced by the platform is traceable to its source, which is both a technical requirement and a regulatory obligation under the AI Act (Art. 13).

Majda Skrijelj
Majda Skrijelj
Consultant & Chief Regulation Untangler

Senior Compliance Officer currently at an international financial institution, Majda works at Themio as a regulatory consultant. She brings over 20 years of experience at the intersection of governance, anti-corruption, AML/CFT, and institutional risk — within international financial institutions, the UNDP, and government bodies. She also managed compliance and DOJ reporting for Telekom.me.

At Themio, she is the product conscience: the person asking "but will a 12-person company in Ljubljana actually be able to use this?" She joined Themio because she kept seeing the same gap: sophisticated regulations, and no accessible tooling for the organizations that need it most.

Nicolas Pinault
Nicolas Pinault
Co-founder & Product Development

Software architect and technical director with over 20 years of experience in the design and development of SaaS products, Nicolas has spent most of his career at Synchroteam, where he led the technical architecture of a SaaS product used globally.

At Themio, he is the guarantor of the deterministic architecture: the rules engine that transforms regulatory texts into traceable verdicts is his work. This approach — an engine built article-by-article by experts, rather than an LLM left alone — is what distinguishes Themio from a regulatory chatbot.

FAQ

Frequent questions about the team and the Themio approach

Who are the founders of Themio and what is their compliance experience?
Themio brings together four complementary professionals. Majda Skrijelj is a Senior Compliance Officer currently working in an international financial institution, with over 20 years of experience in governance, anti-corruption, and AML/CFT — she acts as a regulatory consultant for Themio. Kévin Lefèvre is a Data Scientist specializing in LLMs and document processing, serving as an AI expert consultant. Nicolas Pinault, co-founder, is a software architect with over 20 years of SaaS experience. Nicolas Fetiveau, co-founder, is the founder of Eterra Partners, a firm specializing in international governance and compliance. The team combines institutional regulatory expertise and SaaS technical capability — two skills rarely brought together in a single product.
Is Themio built by legal experts or by developers?
Both — and that is precisely what sets it apart. Themio's regulatory content is built by practitioners who have worked in strictly regulated environments: international financial institutions, government bodies, and DOJ compliance programs. The technical architecture — deterministic rule engine, document processing pipelines, EU cloud infrastructure — is designed by engineers with over 20 years of SaaS experience. Both dimensions are integrated directly into the product, rather than outsourced to a law firm or a contractor.
Why trust Themio on topics as sensitive as GDPR or AI Act compliance?
Three structural reasons. First, the team has worked in environments where compliance was not optional — international financial institutions under regulatory surveillance, DOJ programs, and government bodies. Second, Themio does not produce recommendations without sources: each verdict is accompanied by the exact citation of the analyzed text and the applicable article. Zero hallucination. Third, areas of ambiguity are submitted to expert validation — the AI does not decide on its own. This level of rigor is what institutional experience dictates by reflex.
Is Themio adapted to markets outside of France — Belgium, Luxembourg, Balkans?
Yes. The team's experience spans 3 continents and includes compliance programs in the Western Balkans, Montenegro, and EU accession markets. The covered regulations — GDPR, AI Act , NIS2, CSRD, DORA, AML — are European regulations of direct application, valid in all Member States and progressively adopted in candidate countries. Themio is designed to work in any context where European law applies or will apply.
What is the difference between Themio and a consulting firm like Eterra Partners?
Eterra Partners is a consulting firm that intervenes on complex mandates requiring personalized human support: due diligence, custom compliance programs, and institutional training. Themio automates the analytical part — identifying regulatory gaps, producing structured reports , and continuous monitoring. The two are complementary: Themio provides the diagnosis in 2 minutes , and Eterra Partners steps in where human expertise is indispensable. The shared foundation ensures that Themio never underestimates the complexity of real-world cases.
